Explosive Risk Management Ltd produces a wide range of IED training aids to facilitate the training of the Military, Police, Fire Service, Close Protection Teams, Security Personnel and any other personnel requiring recognition or hands on training with realistic IEDs. All of our training devices are truly improvised and are exact INERT copies of current and historic IEDs. We believe that all counter terrorist and IEDD training must reflect the current threat and therefore all of our training devices are continually updated with the latest devices seen either at home, or on deployed operations in conflict zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

All of our devices are totally inert containing no explosive components and are unique in that they are all made by former bomb disposal operators that have rendered safe similar live devices. These training aids are totally hand-made to reflect the true nature of improvised explosive devices and are available to the following organisations:

Military - Current devices for pre-deployment training for Afghanistan including:

  • All different types of Pressure Plate switches and main charges from pressure cooker main charges to Palm Oil containers filled with INERT explosives.
  • Representative and working Radio Controlled switches.
  • Suicide vests.
  • Pneumatic reusable training mines with a noise and simulated smoke signature.
  • In addition we also offer our uniquely designed pneumatic suicide vest with a simulated sound, smoke and flash signature for realistic training.

    Real IRA Mk 19 Blast Bomb, Pressure Mat Device, 7/7 Organic Peroxide Explosives Device, Anti-Capitalist Incendiary Device, Mobile Phone Initiated Device and a Time Initiated Device.

All Kits come in a robust case with each Training Aid packaged in foam for security and protection. Kits are easy to transport and store. Should any other packaging be required, please do not hesitate to contact us for details. Items are also sold individually.

For the emergency services, each kit comes complete with a MS PowerPoint presentation detailing the types of device and the hazards associated with each. In addition, the presentation covers all relevant procedures for IEDs such as cordoning and evacuation procedures and distances (The 4 Cs). Also covered are the questions the bomb disposal team will require answers to on arrival (The 5 Ws). The presentation also describes in detail the procedures conducted by all agencies involved in an IED task, from the discovery, render safe actions and forensic phase. This presentation has been produced by senior British Army bomb disposal personnel with extensive experience rendering safe IEDs and advising both the emergency services, government departments and senior scientific personnel of the threat posed from IEDs.

IED Training Aids are often manufactured for customers with specific purposes and any IED can be replicated or bespoke designs can be made to order. Explosive Risk Management also manufactures a wide range of Training Aids that fit into the three criteria detailed below:

  • Time Devices (Chemical, electronic, mechanical and other time initiation such as water)
  • Command Devices (Command Wire, Command Pull, RC, Light Command and Projectile Command)
  • Victim Operated Devices (Pressure, pressure release, lift, movement, pull. tripwire, light, dark, movement etc)
